The Best Mushroom Coffee: The Ultimate Guide

The Best Mushroom coffee- it’s a quest my husband and I are now on having jumped on this beverage trend and getting hooked.

A coworker recently let me try her mushroom coffee because she now swears by it. I’m a coffee lover so I’ll never turn down a good cup. After reading the claims people have made about the positive health benefits they’ve experienced like increased energy, reduced stress, and inflammation, we ordered some.

We’ve been drinking it daily ever since.

I’m no doctor, so I can’t advise on the health benefits but we like the way it tastes and if it has the potential to be good for us- we’re all in.

So, let’s dive into the world of mushroom coffee and find the perfect brew!

What is Mushroom Coffee?

What’s in it?

Mushroom coffee is a drink that blends ground coffee beans with extracts from medicinal mushrooms. Powdered extracts from mushrooms like reishi, lion’s mane, chaga, cordyceps, and turkey tail.

How it’s made

Mushroom coffee usually involves blending ground coffee beans with powdered extracts of medicinal mushrooms. Don’t worry, you’re not going to have chunks of mushroom floating in your cup; it’s all blended in.

The mushrooms are dried, ground, and extracted to get the good stuff out of it, which are then added to regular coffee.

How’s it Taste?

This is what got me when I first tried it. I thought it would taste like my traditional cup of joe.

It does not.

So I assumed my husband wouldn’t like it but he loves it. You just have to know it’s going to taste different than a traditional coffee.

Mushroom coffee generally has an earthier, slightly nutty flavor. It’s somewhat similar to regular coffee, but with a unique twist.

Potential Benefits:

Many people are drawn to the drink because they’ve read about potential health benefits including improved cognitive function, stress reduction, and immune support.

It’s a low-carb, high-fat beverage in line with keto and paleo diets.

Forms:

  • Mushroom coffee comes in different forms, including grounds, pre-made lattes, instant packets, and even pods. While mushroom coffee still has caffeine, it usually has less than regular coffee.
