Very best toddler travel beds for 2024

Picking the right toddler travel bed can mean the difference between a good vacation and a bad one.

For both you and your little one.

We all gotta sleep.

As a family of 6, constantly on the go, we’ve used a TON of travel toddler beds.

With four little ones, our kids often have to share rooms so maximizing sleep is key.

Here are our favs when it comes to toddler travel beds. We’ve personally owned or used all of these multiple times, with multiple kids.

What’s the best toddler travel bed out there?

There are several good ones out there so it depends on what you’re looking for at the time. Most offer some sort of blow-up system or device. The best ones, in my opinion, are easy to use, blow up quickly, and are comfortable enough to keep your little one sleeping – for a while. A long while.

Eltow Toddler Travel Bed

This is the one we used most recently during our family beach week for our 3-year-old.

The Eltow Toddler Travel Bed boasts both quality and durability. The materials used are not only soft and comfortable for my child, but they also seem capable of withstanding the inevitable wear and tear of travel. This is a blow-up bed though so I wouldn’t stab it with a pointy stick or jump on it from a high distance – both things my kids are capable of doing. The bed’s construction feels sturdy yet cozy.

There are inflatable side bumpers which are nice for keeping the little ones in place. No bumpers on the top or bottom of the travel bed. My 3-year-old didn’t seem to mind that though and stayed (relatively) in place.

Pros

  • Includes inflatable bumpers for sleep safety
  • Features soft, puncture-resistant vinyl
  • Comes with a pump
  • Include travel bag
  • Includes quick-fix patches

Cons

  • Some users report a plastic smell
  • No top or bottom bumpers

Specs for the bed:

  • 63″L x 40″W x 12″Th
  • Weight capacity 310 pounds

Overall Amazon rating:

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Conclusion:

In summary, the Eltow Toddler Travel Bed is a great addition to any traveling family’s list of necessities. Its exceptional quality, ease of setup, comfort, portability, and versatility make it a must-have for any family on the go. Our family gives it the thumbs up.

Hiccapop Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed

I listed this one as the best option for younger kids or those who are “active and creative” sleepers. The ones who like to move a lot in their sleep. I have a few of those myself. You know the ones who like to practice jiu-jitsu in their sleep.

HIccapop offers bumpers on all four sides of the travel bed to try to keep your little one contained. They also offer a couple of different color choices. I’ve read a bunch of online reviews of this bed, and people repeatedly mention the excellent customer service. It seems if you have any issues at all, they’re fixed promptly.

One of the nicest features of the Hiccapop travel bed is how easy it is to use. Inflating and deflating the bed is a breeze, thanks to the electric pump that comes with it. Within minutes, the bed is fully inflated and ready for use. When it’s time to pack up and move on, deflating and folding the bed is just as simple.

It doesn’t come with a sheet so you do need to have your own readily available when it’s time to put the bed together.

Pros

  • Bumpers on all four sides
  • Patch kit included
  • Easy to transport- weighs 8 pounds and comes with a travel bag
  • Comes with a lifetime guarantee for punctures pump issues and leaks
  • Quick set up

Cons

  • Faint chemical smell reported by some users
  • Doesn’t come with a sheet

Specs for the bed:

  • Outer Dimensions: 62 x 39 x 12H inches
  • Sleeping Area Dimensions: 49 x 26 inches
  • Weight capacity 300 pounds

Overall Amazon Rating:

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Conclusion:

the Hiccapop Inflatable Toddler Travel Bed is a great asset when traveling with our little ones. Its ease of use, safety features, comfort, durability, and portability make it a standout choice for families on the go.

Intex Dura-Beam Airbed

I also own this one. You can get a twin size but I own the queen size. It’s geared for adults but I’ve used it with my kids so that’s why I included it. This is great for the money and is as comfortable as any airbed I’ve encountered.

Many airbeds I’ve used before leak on me and that’s the worst. You wake up on the hard floor in the middle of the night confused and wondering what you’re doing with your life. Ok, that’s dramatic but waking on the ground when you don’t expect it is jarring.

I’ve read a lot of reviews on this one and many people use it instead of a real mattress. People who are moving or have had trouble with falls or aren’t in a place to buy a real bed sleep on this regularly and have given it good reviews.

Pros

  • Raised so it feels more like a real bed
  • Durable
  • Comfortable
  • Built-in pump so you won’t misplace

Cons

  • Raised so may not be ideal for smaller kids or active sleepers
  • No bumpers because it’s an airbed

Specs for the twin:

  • User weight capacity up to 300 pounds
  • Product Dimensions: 75″L x 39″W x 18″ Th

Overall Amazon rating

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Conclusion:

This airbed is a great bang for your buck. It’s geared for adults but I’ve used it with my kids. I probably wouldn’t use it for a super young one because it is elevated and doesn’t include a bumper so your child could roll off. It takes up slightly more space to store than a toddler inflatable bed, but not enough to be a deal breaker in my opinion.

What you should look for in a toddler travel bed?

Age appropriateness: Toddler travel beds are usually designed for two-year-olds and older. Kids younger than that should sleep in a Porta-crib, pack-n-play, or travel cot instead.

Safety: You want to make sure the travel bed is sturdy and durable for your child. Also, it should support the child’s neck and head. Also, if your child is prone to wandering, I like to bring our Ring camera with us so we can be alerted if she gets up. You could also keep watch with a regular baby monitor.

Comfort: This seems obvious but the more comfortable your child is, the more likely they’ll be to sleep longer. You may want to try out the bed before traveling to make sure it’s the right fit for your babe.

Easiness to use: Nothing is more frustrating than battling with a travel bed after a long day of trekking through airports or driving along the highway. Also, you want it to be simple to put away when you’re done with your adventure.

Size and weight: You don’t want anything too cumbersome if you’re carrying your toddler travel bed with you. You want something lightweight and compact. Also, it’s nice if it doesn’t take up too much space if you’re storing the bed in your home when not in use.
