How to Make a Money Crown: Simple and Unique

It’s graduation season and what new grad wouldn’t love a crown of MONEY!!!

Creating a money crown is a fun and unique way to celebrate special occasions like birthdays, graduations, or any event where you want to make someone feel extra special.

Not only is a money crown a welcome gift, but it’s also practical, combining something festive with the popularity of cold, hard cash.

Everyone loves

Cold.

Hard.

Cash.

I sometimes struggle with what to give boys, especially older boys on special occasions.

If it’s a baby shower gift, I got it. If it’s an 11-year-old boy who’s in a play, I don’t.

But who doesn’t love money?

In this blog post, we’ll guide you through the simple steps to make your money crown, from gathering the necessary materials to adding the final decorative touches. Get ready to impress your loved ones with this thoughtful and eye-catching present!

It’s super easy, quick, and surprisingly cheap – except for the money part!

I made mine in about 20 minutes and I have zero origami experience. If I can do it you can do it.

Materials Needed For Your Money Crown

  1. Money Bills
    • For this money crown, we’ll need nine $1 bills. Nine $1 bills are perfect for a young child’s head. It fits my 6-year-old son. If you make one for an adult I’d make it bigger using more bills.
    • I would do it the person’s age if possible, so if you’re making one for an 11-year-old, I’d use 11-dollar bills.
    • If it’s for graduation, just pick the amount of money you’d like to spend on the gift and use that amount.

Preparing the Base

If possible, I’d measure the head of the person wearing it. That way you know how long to make the cardstock. I had to glue my cardstock pieces together to make it long enough.

Creative variations for your Money Crown

  • You can always make a themed money crown (e.g., holiday, graduation, birthday)
  • A fun idea is to use different denominations or international currencies for a unique look. This would be a fun gift if say, you’re going to Jamaica and want to surprise the grandkids and tell them they’re going there with a crown of Jamaican currency.
