It’s time to get creative with our Christmas tree ideas 2024!

For some reason, I’m especially excited to decorate this year. My 4 kids are all at such cool ages and the magic is still very much alive in our home.

My dream has always been to have a tree in each window of my home. Last year I accomplished that. I’m a big fan of the pencil tree because they’re skinny, but still super festive.

I have a tree in our bedroom, the office, the front entryway, the dining room, the laundry room, the den, and one in each child’s room. Okay, I may have gone overboard with the trees but Christmas time makes me happy and so does decorating my own home.

Whether you’re going traditional with ornaments or trying something new and modern, there are so many ways to make your tree the star of the show this year.

From bright color schemes to cool themes, let’s get into it and get you in the Christmas spirit!

Disco balls are super in right now and I’m brainstorming tons of different ways to incorporate them into my holiday decor. I made some disco ball bats for Halloween as well as disco pumpkins.

3. Incorporating the Color of the Year for 2024

4. Incorporating Live Greenery

  • Greenery, eucalyptus, or ferns, to bring in a natural element and make it cozy.
  • Candles and fairy lights make it warm and toasty.

I know a lot of folks do the fake trees and we have several of them in our home as well.

But each year our family travels to the tree farm in Indiana and cuts down our own live tree. It’s such a fun tradition for our kids and there’s nothing like the smell of a real tree. I find it harder to decorate as the branches bend down, but it’s still so lovely and is the focal point of our den.

I love filling it with tons of twinkly lights that we put on a remote control so we can turn them all on in seconds for a magical glow.

5. Vintage and Retro Trees

There’s something so classic and homey about a tree that reminds you of your childhood.

My mom used to hang that silver tinsel on the branches of our tree each year and seeing that stuff instantly transports me back.

You can find vintage-inspired ornaments online or at your local thrift shop. Also, consider estate sales. I’ve gotten several really pretty retro Christmas ornaments from those sales.

  • Use warm white or soft yellow fairy lights to enhance the metallic tones, creating a cozy glow that complements the overall elegance of the tree.

My mom recently gave us a ton of old music sheets since two of my 4 kids are leaning piano now. It’s too much to possibly use so I plan to make some holiday decor out of it.

I did this a few years back for the tree near our piano. I used an old hymnal from the church where I grew up an made some of the sheet music into ornaments. Super cute.
