The Best Halloween Door Ideas: Spooky And Sensational

This year I decided to go all out and embrace all the Halloween door ideas.

I LOVE my double-arched front doors and they’re the perfect host for something fun and spooky.

I had like 84,000 ideas about what to do and finally settled on making them into a mummy.

The shape of our doors is perfect for a ghost or mummy but I gravitated to the mummy -maybe because I’m a mummy myself to four kids! Sorry, I’m just mom telling dad jokes over here and can’t help myself.

I’m going to show you how I put together my mummy front door and we’ll also delve into some other super cute and doable Halloween door ideas to try.

So let’s go!

Supplies for a DIY Mummy Door

  • White table runners
  • Clear packing tape
  • Lighted Eyes (if you want to DIY your eyes on the cheap you can get eyes and lighted lanterns from Dollar Tree. I’ll show you how to use those below)
  • Hot glue gun (optional)
  • Scotch adhesive mounting squares (optional)

I made the eyes with Dollar Tree Eyeballs and Dollar Tree paper lanterns. It would be easier just to order some light-up eyeballs.

These are the ramifications of having a crafty human in your life. I promise I didn’t do this to her. She walked into it on her own and then resigned herself to just sit in it.

Putting Together Your Mummy Door

I didn’t feel like buying the light-up eyes for my door but that’s certainly the easiest way to go so I may order them for next year.

I grabbed a couple of flat 6 inch Halloween eyes from Dollar Tree and purple light-up lanterns. I cut a little hole in the Dollar Tree eyes and then hot glued it to the purple paper lantern. I already have hooks on my door from previous projects but you could always use a couple of Scotch adhesive mounting squares. They hold up to 1 pound and aren’t supposed to damage walls or anything. I think they make some as well that hold up to 6 pounds.

I used several sheer white table runners for the mummy covers.

I thought about using white streamers but these are outside doors so they definitely wouldn’t last.

If I did it again I might you material that’s a little thicker. Hobby Lobby had some plain white wedding aisle runners that weren’t very expensive and might offer better coverage.

I taped the strips onto the glass on the inside of my door. It looks mess inside but whatever!

Halloween Front Door Decor Ideas I Found On the Web

DIY Halloween Door decorations - a little black paper and you're done with your door decor

Jack Skellington Door

This idea from Shelterness is perfect if you’ve got a white door.

Looks super simple too. All you need is black paper for your two eyes and mouth.

Halloween Door decorations - budget friendly bats

Bat Door

The bats are super in to decorate with right now and I like how these (pictured above from Spaceship and Laser Beams) start in the pot and go all the way up the door and wall.

They’re cheap, easy to work with, and adorable.

Halloween front door decoration - witch hat and a broom stick

Witch Door

I like the above-pictured witch door from Pender and Peony because it’s classy and not overly-done.

Again, I’ve got 4 kids so not-so-scary is more our speed. You could also add some witch legs sticking out of the bushes for added effect.

Halloween door decorations Would you want to get candy from this front porch?

The above pictured garland is from Blakeley Webb in Mobile, Alabama (where I used to live) and was featured in Mobile Bay Mag.

Halloween door decorations - you can craft this spider wreath in various sizes

Spider Door

Spiders – even fake ones- give me the heeby-geebys. But the spider wreath above from the blog Twichetts is adorable and not skin crawling at all. They’ve got the tutorial on their site. They said they made it from twigs and old t-shirt. Now that’s on par with my budget!

Wreaths and Garlands

  • Witch theme wreath as part of your Halloween door decor using a broomstick, witches hat, and black flowers to add some magic to your Halloween party.
  • Sometimes less it more when it comes to Halloween decor. Simply adding a cute black crow Halloween wreath to the front door is all you need to embrace the season.
  • Monster theme garland using felt, hot glue, and giant googly eyes to create some spooky fun.
  • Spider theme wreath using a spider web, plastic spiders, and black paint to add some creepy crawlies to your Halloween decor.
  • I. made a little light-up ghost garland using Dollar Tree supplies. I put it in our dining room and it’s cute.
