Halloween Costumes 2025: Ultimate Guide to the Best Ideas
Halloween costumes 2025 – it’s time to start thinking about what you will be.
We’re getting closer to that magical time of year when we embrace our inner weirdness and transform into whoever (or whatever) we want—if only for one night.
But with Halloween 2025 right around the corner, it’s time to start brainstorming those perfect costumes.
Every year, my husband, four kids, and I vote on a family costume for our annual church trunk-or-treat. On Halloween night, the kids can dress up as whatever they like—preferably something we already own.
We’ve done – Mary Poppins, Addams Family, and Grease to name a few.
But it’s always fun to embrace something totally on trend- and timely. Think about current events and recent pop culture- the funnier the better in my opinion.
So, grab a pumpkin spice latte, settle in, and let’s dive into some of the best Halloween costume ideas for 2025.
Trending Halloween Costumes 2025
In my opinion, the following list includes what I predict will be some of the most popular costumes- drawing on current events and looking at popular movies recently released.

1. Wicked
Like, duh. This one is a no-brainer with the smash hit of the movie released in late 2024. I think Wicked costumes are going to be huge for 2025.
The iconic characters of Elphaba and Glinda are instantly recognizable – plus they make for the perfect duo Halloween costume!
2. Deadpool and Wolverine
Deadpool and Wolverine costumes will be top picks for Halloween 2025. There is so much excitement surrounding the “Deadpool 3” movie and the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
3. Taylor Swift Costume
Okay- I know this one was crazy popular in 2024 but I think we’re going to see it again this year. It’s just too fun and it also makes for the perfect duo Halloween costume! with the addition of Travis Kelce.
4. Inside Out:
Inside Out costumes are bound to be a Halloween favorite in 2025, fueled by the release of Inside Out 2 over the summer of 2024. We were introduced to new emotions Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui.

5. Moana
Moana 2 premiered late November and was much anticipated so I think we’ll see Moana costumesthis year. They’re easy to pull off and instantly recognizable.
We did an entire Moana birthday party for my daughter complete with a delicious and gorgeous Moana cake that I DIY-ed and it was a blast!

6. Yellowstone
Yellowstone is hugely popular and with the final episode airing in December 2024, these beloved characters are still fresh in our minds. Plus who doesn’t want to be a cowboy or cowgirl for the night? It’s the perfect last-minute Halloween costume too!

7. Despicable Me
With the release of Despicable Me 4 in the summer of 2024, and the fact that the minions are just so darn loveable, I think we’re going to see these costumes in full effect. My family and I did this them one year complete with Gru, Lucy Wilde, and (my favorite villain) Vector and it was a total blast!

8. Drake and Kendrick Lamar
With Kendrick Lamar’s Superbowl performance and his beef with Drake, this could be a fun duo costume to embrace with a friend.
Actually, this could even be a good trio costume– one person goes as Drake, one as Kendrick Lamar, and the 3rd friend dresses as beef! Get it? Ha!

9. Smurfs
With the new Smurfs movie slated to come out summer of 2025, I think we may see a bunch of blue! This could make for a really cute family costume as well.

10. Sabrina Carpenter
I feel like Sabrina Carpenter was everywhere this year and would make an adorable Halloween costume. With the popularity of songs like Espresso and Taste we may see a lot of blonde wigs.
11. Eggs and Money bags
There was a lot of talk about the high press of eggs especially during the election season. This would be an easy one to pull off for a couple or two BFFS.
12. The Bride of Frankenstein
With actress Maggie Gyllenhaal’s movie The Bride! slated to come out late September 2025, we’ll likely see a resurgence of these classic vintage monster icon characters.
13. Superman
This is a classic choice for any year but this year especially with the new Superman movie, Superman: Legacy, scheduled for release on July 11, 2025. It stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
This is perfect for a group costume because there are so many additional superhero and villains you can easily add.
14. What did you do last week?
This takes a little more creativity but it’s perfect for the DIY creative costume lover. It’s a funny take on Elon Musk’s February request for all federal employees. He asked them to respond with 5 bullet points of what they did the previous week. You could wear a poster board listing your 5 accomplishments (or lack thereof) from the week before. This could be a cute last-minute Halloween costume.
15. Elon Musk and Trump
Another good duo costume with these two dominated the news in 2025. Just remember, the night is supposed to be fun so whether you like these two or not, it’s a celebratory night- not one meant for division.
16. Beetlejuice
With the release of Beetlejuice 2 in 2024, I think we’ll still see plenty of these costumes. “Shrunken head Bob” was big last year, but there are loads of characters for inspiration.
17. Chappel Roan Hot to Go
With Chappel Roan’s popularity this past year an her eccentric costumes and make-up, you could certainly draw inspiration from her for Halloween. If your group is looking for a last minute costume, Grab 7 sheets of paper or cardstock and write the one letter on each page.
Spell out H-O-T-T-O-G-O and each of you wear one letter. Spelling out one of her most popular songs, you and your friends will literally be “Hot-to-go!”

18. Drones
Drones were big this year with them appearing unexpectedly in droves over the state of New Jersey. Saesha Shetty on youtube made a fancy-looking one to wear. You could create your own with cardboard.
19. Twitter Notes
This is the easiest last-minute costume possible. Grab a poster board and create your own “twitter notes” on any current event. The funnier the better. The fact checking community notes section below significant tweets have become commonplace on the platform now known as “x.”

20. Raygun
This one was popular last year but I think we’ll see it again in 2025 just because it’s easy to pull off. Rachael Louise Gunn, known as Raygun, is an Australian breakdancer. She faced criticism for her performance at the Paris Olympics but her green tracksuit is recognizable and looks comfy.

21. Wednesday Addams
Wednesday Addams costumes will remain a top choice for Halloween 2025. That’s fueled by the enduring popularity of the character and the success of the hit Netflix series Wednesday, which introduces her to a new generation.
We did Addams family for our family costume a few years back and my girls were both Wednesday Addams which is such a cute and easy costume.

22. Paddington
The successful film franchise’s third movie, Paddington in Peru, was released in the U.S. on Valentine’s Day. The loveable bear with his blue coat and red hat is instantly recognizable. This is also one of those easy DIY costumes and could be a family affair with other characters included.
23. Snow White
The new Snow White is scheduled to be released in March of 2025. It’s supposed to be a live-action musical that “reimagines” the classic 1937 film.

24. The Fantastic 4
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 25, 2025, in IMAX. This is a great group costume so I think we’ll be seeing quite a bit of blue.
25. Hunger Games
The next book in The Hunger Games series, Sunrise on the Reaping, is scheduled for release in March of 2025. Sunrise on the Reaping takes place between Songbirds and Snakes and The Hunger Games. It opens at the Reaping for the 50th Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell. We’ll no doubt see a resurgence in the popularity of these costumes.

Animal and Pet Costumes
- Don’t forget your furry friends this Halloween! Dress them up in adorable animal costumes or as famous characters.
- Dress up your pet as a beloved character. I always like to incorporate our dog into our family costume. One year she was the wolf in our Little Red Riding Hood theme and she stole the show. Don’t forget to include your pets!
