Best Grease Costumes That Will Have You Hopelessly Devoted

As you gear up for Halloween, wearing Grease costumes with your favorite folks is a fantastic way to celebrate the season with some retro fun.

Whether you bring the iconic T-Birds’ coolness or channel Sandy’s transformation, these costumes will surely wow.

My kids, hubby and I do a group costume every year for our church’s trunk-or-treat. A few years ago, the group picked Grease Lightning as our theme and I thought it turned out cute!

Some of our other favorite family costumes include the Addams family, Despicable Me, and Little Red Riding Hood.

I love it when we pick outfits we can wear again after Halloween and most of us were able to do that with this theme – well, maybe not the beauty school dropout costume!

So let’s jump into our Halloween costumes guide and get hopelessly devoted to Grease Lightning!

Grease Halloween Costumes

  • There are a variety of costumes to pick from, including Pink Ladies, T-Birds, Sandy, and Danny Zuko outfits.
  • My hubby and I (pictured above) went with bad Sandy and Danny Zuko. Dressing in costume is NOT his thing but he appeases me once a year for our family costume theme for the church party and that makes me love him all the more. Plus he makes a hot Danny!
  • Create a group costume with friends and family like I did with my family to recreate the iconic Rydell High scenes.
  • I think this is a perfect pick for Halloween because it’s so instantly recognizable. I hate it when I have to explain my costume to people. No chance of that if you go with this theme.

My baby played both the part of the pink ladies and she also had a beauty school dropout costume

Beauty School Dropout Costume

  • Classic Silver Robe or Draped Outfit: I ordered my baby’s silver smock from Amazon and it was HUGE but it was still cute. The roller top on her head I ordered it online. I was going to make my own but this one wasn’t expensive so I went ahead and grabbed it. I thought it looked hysterical!
  • Retro Hairstyle: Go for a voluminous, 1960s-inspired hairstyle. Think big curls or a beehive, complemented by a hair accessory like a headband or bow. If your hair isn’t long enough, a wig styled in this fashion works great. I would have put a pink wig on my girl but she wasn’t even 1 at the time and would NOT have appreciated it.
  • Glam Makeup: Embrace a bold, retro makeup look with heavy eyeliner, bright pink lipstick, and a touch of shimmer. False lashes or dramatic mascara will add to the vintage glamour.
  • Beauty School Props: Carry a beauty school-themed prop, such as a fake diploma, a comb, or a hairbrush. This adds authenticity and a playful touch to your costume.
  • Playful Attitude: Channel the carefree, fun-loving spirit of the character by adopting a playful and slightly rebellious demeanor. It helps bring the whole look together and enhances the overall effect.

Rydell High Cheerleader Costume

  • Classic Cheerleader Uniform: Wear a vintage-style Rydell High cheerleading uniform or letterman sweater. This typically includes a short, pleated skirt and a matching top with the Rydell High logo or lettering in bold, retro colors like red and white.
  • Pom-Poms: Carry a pair of classic pom-poms to complete the cheerleader vibe. Opt for ones that match your uniform’s colors to tie the look together.
  • Cheerleader Socks and Shoes: Pair your outfit with knee-high socks featuring stripes that complement your uniform. Complete the look with white cheerleading shoes that channel Rydell High.
  • Retro Hairstyle: Style your hair in classic 1950s cheerleader fashion, such as high ponytails with bouncy curls or waves. Adding a ribbon or bow can enhance the vintage cheerleader look.
  • Cheerful Attitude: Embrace the energetic and enthusiastic spirit of a cheerleader. Practice some classic cheerleading chants or poses to fully embody the role and bring your costume to life.
