Popular Minion Characters

When it comes to Halloween costumes, dressing up as a Minion is always a hit. But with so many lovable characters from Despicable Me, how do you choose? Here are some of the most popular Minion characters that are perfect for kids and adults. These would also make great Trio Halloween costumes.

  • Stuart: Known for his single eye and mischievous grin, Stuart is one of the most recognizable Minions. His costume is easy to replicate with a pair of goggles and a yellow jumpsuit.
  • Kevin: Tall and slender, Kevin is the Minion with a love for bananas. His costume might be a bit more challenging, but with a yellow jumpsuit and a banana-shaped accessory, you’ll nail the look.
  • Bob: The smallest of the Minion trio, Bob is absolutely adorable. His costume is simple to create with a yellow jumpsuit and a pair of goggles.
  • Dave: Dave is a bit of a wild card, known for his love of playing the drums. His costume is similar to Stuart’s, with a yellow jumpsuit and goggles, but you can add a drum accessory to complete the look.

DIY Minion Costume Tutorial

Make your own Minion costume at home with a couple of items – it doesn’t take much so I think this also makes for fantastic last-minute Halloween costumes.

You can make the goggles using everyday materials like mason jar lids and tape. See the tutorial here from The Scrap Shoppe Blog.

You can cut out the shape of googly eyes and put those in the goggles or put the goggles over your own eyes. You could also use these as aviator goggles for an Amelia Earhart costume. Bonus points!

Materials:

  • Yellow shirt or bodysuit
  • Blue overalls or denim fabric
  • Black gloves
  • Black boots or shoes
  • Goggles (can be made from cardboard or plastic)
  • Hot glue gun or fabric glue
  • Scissors

Step-by-Step Guide:

1. Create the Minion Shirt:

  • Grab a yellow shirt or bodysuit for the base of your costume. If you’re using fabric, cut and sew it into a form-fitting shirt or tunic.

2. Make the Overalls:

  • Use blue denim or blue fabric to create the Minion’s signature overalls. If you don’t have an actual pair of overalls, cut out a piece of blue fabric and create suspenders (you can sew or use fabric glue for the straps).

3. Add the Goggles:

  • Cut out two circles from cardboard or plastic to create the goggle lenses.
  • Attach the lenses with a black band (you can use elastic or tape to wrap them together).

4. Add Minion Eyes:

  • If you want to go all out, you can create large, cartoonish eyes around the goggle lenses using white fabric and black paint to outline the iris and pupil.

5. Minion Gloves and Shoes:

  • For the gloves: Use black gloves or mittens.
  • For the shoes: Wear a pair of black boots.
Add a bit of style to your minion look. We realized this theme is a blast!

  • There are also Minion costume props, like bananas and fart guns,.
